Corrections Boss Joins Service Chiefs, Dignitaries at 2026 Armed Forces Thanksgiving in Abuja

The Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, on Sunday attended the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day Interdenominational Thanksgiving Church Service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.
The solemn service formed part of activities marking the annual Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, an event dedicated to honouring the bravery and commitment of Nigeria’s military personnel who have served, and continue to serve, the nation.
At the ceremony, the Controller-General joined the Honourable Minister of Defence, General C. G. Musa (Rtd); the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; as well as other Service Chiefs in paying tribute to the nation’s heroes.
Also in attendance were heads of other paramilitary agencies, members of the Diplomatic Corps, senior government officials, and other distinguished guests, underscoring the national significance of the event.
The interdenominational thanksgiving service provided an opportunity for prayers and reflection on the courage, patriotism, and enduring sacrifices of members of the Armed Forces, both those who paid the supreme price and those still actively serving the country.
The 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day is themed “Valor, Sacrifice and Unity: Honouring Our Heroes,” highlighting the collective responsibility of Nigerians to remember, appreciate, and support the men and women who defend the nation.
