NSCDC, NCoS Strengthen Security Partnership in Sokoto

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to national security through the reinvigoration of its longstanding partnership with the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS). This was demonstrated on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, when the State Commandant of NSCDC, CC EA Ajayi, received the newly deployed Comptroller of Corrections, NCoS Sokoto State Command, CC Yashen Richard, at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Sokoto.
The courtesy visit focused on fostering strategic collaboration between the two agencies, particularly in the protection of NCoS Custodial Centres, with emphasis on facilities housing high-profile inmates. Discussions also centred on strengthening joint efforts in safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure across Sokoto State.
The engagement further deepened the already strong relationship between the NSCDC and NCoS in the state, highlighting the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing evolving security challenges and enhancing the overall security architecture.
Speaking during the visit, the Comptroller of Corrections, CC Yashen Richard, expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation. He noted that effective synergy between the NCoS and NSCDC is vital to achieving national security objectives, stressing that both agencies share a common mission in the fight against criminality.
He emphasized that criminals view all security agencies as adversaries, making unity, cooperation, and mutual respect among law enforcement institutions imperative. The Comptroller called for improved intelligence sharing, sustained engagement, and enhanced collaboration, while also underscoring the need for a pragmatic approach to inmate rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration for the benefit of society.
In his response, the NSCDC State Commandant, CC EA Ajayi, commended the NCoS for its unwavering role in safeguarding custodial centres, particularly those with high-profile inmates. He described the NCoS as a frontline agency in ensuring safety within custodial facilities and reaffirmed the NSCDC’s readiness to deploy its manpower, intelligence resources, and full support in partnership with the NCoS to build a just, egalitarian, and crime-free society in Sokoto State.
