The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, Commandant EA Ajayi, on Monday, 5 January 2026, reaffirmed his commitment to the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) as he convened the Command’s first muster parade briefing for the year.
The parade marked the formal commencement of the Command’s strategic activities for 2026, during which the State Commandant outlined key operational priorities. These include the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, the Safe Schools Programme, VIP protection, curbing vandalism, crisis management, and the regulation of Private Guard Companies operating within Sokoto State.
The State Commandant arrived at the State Command Headquarters at about 8:30 a.m., where he was received with a quarter guard mounted in his honour. He inspected the guard of honour and thereafter proceeded to the parade ground, where he also carried out a detailed inspection of officers and men on parade, commending their professionalism and adherence to dress code.
Addressing officers and men in his first address for the year 2026, the State Commandant reiterated his resolve to ensure the effective actualisation of the Corps’ core mandate through discipline, professionalism, renewed zeal, and commitment to service. He urged personnel to discharge their duties with integrity, loyalty, and dedication to the Corps and the nation.
The Commandant also briefed the parade on preparations for the forthcoming International Civil Defence Organisation Day, noting that strategic plans were already underway to ensure a successful celebration. He emphasised that the ICDO Day celebration is a collective responsibility and an opportunity for the Command to showcase its operational capacity, professionalism, and active participation in scheduled programmes.
Emphasising the importance of discipline, the State Commandant stated that self-discipline must remain a top priority in the new year. He implored all personnel to imbibe discipline in all facets of life, both on and off duty, stressing that discipline remains the foundation of effective service delivery and the image of the Corps.
In furtherance of efforts to protect critical national assets and infrastructure in Sokoto State, the State Commandant disclosed that the Command has strengthened a surveillance framework through collaboration with communities across the state. This proactive approach, he noted, is aimed at ensuring the safety and protection of government assets at all levels, while promoting peace and security through sustained community engagement and synergy.
