The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been thrown into the national spotlight as its National Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Afolabi Babawale, won the Outstanding National Security Communication Award at the 2025 People’s Security Monitor Security Summit and Recognition Award.
The award was presented at the 2025 People’s Security Monitor Security Summit, an event that attracted top security stakeholders, policymakers, media executives, and communication experts from across the country to deliberate on contemporary security challenges and solutions.
CSC Afolabi Babawale was recognised for his outstanding performance in strategic security communication, timely dissemination of credible information, and effective public engagement that has strengthened public confidence in the activities of the NSCDC nationwide.
Organisers of the summit stated that the award was instituted to honour professionals who have demonstrated excellence, consistency, and innovation in security communication, noting that Babawale’s contributions met the required national and professional standards.
Reacting to the honour, CSC Babawale expressed appreciation to the leadership of the NSCDC, particularly the Commandant General, for the enabling environment that supports professionalism and excellence within the Corps.
He described the award as a call to greater responsibility, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining accurate, transparent, and people-focused communication in support of national security and public safety.
The recognition, according to observers, further highlights the growing importance of effective communication in modern security operations and reinforces the NSCDC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaboration with the media and the public.
