The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the deployment of eight Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various state commands and appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.

The commission said the redeployments were approved during its meeting on Wednesday and were necessitated by recent promotions and operational requirements across the affected state commands.

According to a statement issued by the PSC’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo has been posted to Abia State, CP Ayodeji Faniyan to Plateau State, CP Saka Ajao to Bayelsa State, CP Ajo Ordue to Cross River State, CP Nnanna Ama to Anambra State, CP Patrick Daaor to Edo State, CP Tijani Murtala to Jigawa State, while CP Samuel Etaifo has been deployed to Delta State.

The commission stated that the postings were designed to ensure effective policing and sustain operational efficiency in the affected commands.

Before their new appointments, the officers served in various strategic positions within the Nigeria Police Force. Olutokunbo was Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Training and Development; Faniyan served in the Police Cooperative in Lagos; Ajao was Commissioner of Police, Administration, at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Gombe; while Ordue headed INTERPOL operations in Abuja.

Similarly, Ama served as Commissioner of Police in charge of Intelligence, while Daaor held the position of Commissioner of Police, Administration, at the Force Intelligence Department, Abuja.

The PSC also confirmed the appointment of AIG Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil.

Mohammed brings more than three decades of policing experience to the position, having served in several operational, investigative, intelligence, and training capacities within the force.

His previous appointments include Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri; Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State; and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zones 3 and 6.

A graduate of Political Science, Mohammed also holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Bayero University, Kano, and is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Speaking during the meeting, the commissioner who presided over the session, retired Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, urged the newly deployed officers to uphold professionalism, integrity, and impartiality in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He charged them to remain committed to the rule of law, maintain discipline, and provide effective leadership in their respective commands in line with the mandate of the Nigeria Police Force.
