NSCDC Clamps Down on Illegal Mineral Processing Facility in Rivers State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intensified its crackdown on illegal mineral purchasing, processing and trading activities across the South-South region, in line with its statutory mandate to protect critical national assets and enforce compliance with laws regulating the mining sector.
As part of this ongoing enforcement drive, the South-South Mining Marshal of the Corps, led by Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC) Emmanuel Abiahu, sealed the premises of Twing Supply Chain Nig. Ltd., located along the Onne–Akwa Ibom Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, over alleged violations of the Nigerian Mining Act.
Preliminary intelligence and investigations revealed that the company was involved in the purchase, processing and dealing in minerals without possessing the complete and requisite licences and permits required by law. Further regulatory infractions were also uncovered during the operation.
Following these findings, the facility was temporarily shut down to enable a thorough investigation, after which appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with due process and applicable laws, to serve as a deterrent to other operators in the sector.
The NSCDC has therefore cautioned individuals and corporate entities engaged in mineral-related activities to ensure strict adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements, including obtaining the necessary licences and permits before commencing operations.
The Corps, under the leadership of the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting national economic interests, and ensuring that mining and mineral processing activities across the country conform to national and international best practices. This effort aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The NSCDC further assured the public of its sustained vigilance and continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to curb illegal activities within the mining sector, particularly across the South-South zone.
