Former NSCDC Commandant General, Hilary Kelechi Madu, to Speak on “The Crucial Role of the NSCDC and the Need to Further Strengthen It” at 2025 People’s Security Monitor Security Summit

The 2025 People’s Security Monitor (PSM) Security Summit, which will take place tomorrow at the Nigeria National Merit House in Maitama, Abuja, will feature Former NSCDC Commandant General, Hilary Kelechi Madu, among its distinguished speakers. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address titled “The Crucial Role of the NSCDC and the Need to Further Strengthen It,” a subject that underscores the Corps’ strategic significance in protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure throughout Nigeria.

In his address, Madu is expected to draw extensively on his leadership experience within the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), offering valuable insights into the Corps’ core functions and notable accomplishments. He will highlight how NSCDC’s responsibilities in community protection, disaster management, and civil defense have strengthened national stability, while stressing the urgent need to further bolster its operational effectiveness.

The PSM Security Summit is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost platforms for national security discussions, convening senior security officials, government representatives, academics, civil society actors, and strategic partners. Madu’s involvement will provide an important perspective on enhancing institutional capacity, promoting collaboration among agencies, and reinforcing the NSCDC’s position as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s overall security framework.

Emphasizing the need for strong policy backing and continuous capacity development, Madu is expected to propose practical recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders. His guidance will likely cover areas such as training enhancement, logistics improvement, community engagement strategies, and adoption of innovative technologies within the NSCDC, ensuring that the Corps can respond effectively to emerging threats and safeguard communities.

As Nigeria continues to face complex and evolving security challenges, the 2025 PSM Security Summit offers a vital forum for the exchange of knowledge, collaborative planning, and the development of actionable strategies. Madu’s presentation is anticipated to encourage renewed attention to strengthening the NSCDC and advancing practical reforms that will enhance national security and protect the well-being of citizens across the nation.
