The 2025 People’s Security Monitor (PSM) Security Summit, set to hold tomorrow at the Nigeria National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja, will feature AIG Wilson Inalegwu (rtd) as one of its distinguished speakers. He is slated to deliver a keynote address on “Building Security from the Ground Up: The Critical Role of Local Government and Traditional Leadership”, a theme that underscores the importance of community-based strategies in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
Inalegwu’s presentation promises to highlight the essential role local government authorities and traditional leaders play in strengthening grassroots security. Drawing from years of experience in law enforcement and community engagement, he is expected to provide practical insights on how these institutions can work together to prevent crime, foster public trust, and build resilient communities.
The PSM Security Summit has earned a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most credible platforms for national security dialogue. This year, the summit will convene security chiefs, government officials, scholars, civil society actors, and strategic partners, all committed to exchanging innovative ideas on public safety, institutional reform, and sustainable security solutions.
Speaking on Inalegwu’s participation, the Convener of the Summit and Editor-in-Chief of PSM, Isiaka Mustapha, noted that integrating local governance structures with traditional leadership initiatives is critical for achieving long-term stability. He emphasized that Inalegwu’s insights will provide actionable frameworks for both policy makers and community stakeholders to enhance national security from the grassroots level.
Beyond theory, the discussion will focus on concrete strategies for community policing, effective intelligence gathering, and collaborative conflict resolution. By placing local actors at the center of security planning, Inalegwu is expected to demonstrate how bottom-up approaches can complement national-level initiatives, ensuring faster, more adaptive, and culturally informed responses to security threats.
As Nigeria continues to confront complex security challenges, the summit offers a unique opportunity for stakeholders to develop innovative, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to public safety. AIG Wilson Inalegwu’s contribution will serve as a critical blueprint for leveraging local government and traditional leadership structures to build a safer, more secure nation.
