The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, joined leading security experts, policymakers, and industry stakeholders from across Africa and beyond at the 2026 ASIS Sub-Saharan Africa Security Conference (SASCON), held in Cape Town, South Africa, as part of efforts to strengthen professional capacity and promote global best practices in security management.
The two-day conference, which took place at the Lagoon Beach Hotel from July 21 to 22, was organised by the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS International), the world’s largest professional association for security management practitioners.
The event brought together security professionals, government officials, corporate leaders, and industry experts to examine emerging security threats and explore innovative strategies for safeguarding lives, assets, and critical infrastructure across the continent.
The conference focused on addressing Africa’s complex and multidimensional security challenges, including unemployment, inequality, organised crime, economic sabotage, cyber threats, and other emerging risks, while positioning the continent as a leader in human-centred security solutions.
Held under the theme, “Africa and Beyond: Security that Thinks, Protection that Feels,” the conference featured high-level panel discussions, strategic engagements, technology exhibitions, and networking sessions designed to foster collaboration among security professionals and organisations operating across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Participants examined practical approaches to tackling contemporary security concerns and explored the role of technology, innovation, and strategic partnerships in enhancing security governance and resilience.
Commandant Ibiloye’s participation underscored the commitment of the NSCDC Ondo State Command to continuous professional development, institutional growth, and the adoption of international best practices in security operations.
The conference also provided an avenue for knowledge sharing, professional networking, and engagement with global security experts on emerging trends and developments shaping the future of security management.
Accompanying the Ondo State Commandant was the Principal Staff Officer to the Commandant, Deputy Commandant Odunayo Yusuff, who is also a member of ASIS International.
Their participation offered an opportunity to exchange ideas with security professionals from different parts of the world and gain insights into innovative approaches to risk management, critical asset protection, and public safety.
The conference concluded with a renewed call for stronger collaboration among governments, security agencies, private sector organisations, and international partners to address evolving security threats and promote sustainable peace, stability, and development across Africa.
