The Federal Fire Service (FFS), in partnership with the Ejaosan Network, has continued its nationwide community fire-safety campaign with a fire safety awareness training held on 2nd December 2025 at the Primary Health Centre, Karu. Building on the momentum of the recently concluded National Fire Safety Week, the initiative aligns with the Service’s mission to promote a culture of fire prevention and safety across Nigeria, in line with the theme: “Building a Culture of Fire Safety Across Nigeria: Overcoming the ‘Not My Portion’ Mentality.”
The sensitization programme brought together patients, staff, and management of the health facility, with the aim of improving public understanding of fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and early response. Officers of the Federal Fire Service, ASF I Anyanwu C.O. and ASF I S. Ishaya, led the session, providing professional guidance on identifying fire hazards, evacuation procedures, and the proper use of fire safety equipment.
In her remarks, Mrs. Ayooluwa Obayom-Adeniyi, representing the Ejaosan Network, applauded the Federal Fire Service for its steadfast commitment to public fire-safety education. She emphasized that building safer communities requires collaboration, shared responsibility, and continuous awareness creation.
As part of the engagement, the Ejaosan Network donated essential fire safety equipment to the Primary Health Centre, Karu, strengthening the facility’s capacity to respond effectively to potential fire incidents. The equipment was formally received by the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Akila Udoji, who expressed gratitude to both the Federal Fire Service and the NGO for their support and dedication to public safety.
Participants also took part in a practical fire drill, which offered hands-on experience in evacuation techniques and the use of basic firefighting tools.
Through sustained partnerships and continuous public engagement, the Federal Fire Service remains committed to safeguarding lives, property, and critical infrastructure across the nation.
