Federal High Court Sentences Nnamdi Kanu to Life Imprisonment

The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment.

Delivering the judgment on Wednesday, Justice James Omotosho imposed life sentences on counts one, two, four, five, and six, noting that the court opted for life imprisonment rather than the death penalty.

The court further sentenced Kanu to 20 years’ imprisonment on count three and an additional five years on count seven. Both sentences come without any option of a fine.

Justice Omotosho reached the decision after finding Kanu guilty on all seven terrorism-related charges brought against him by the Federal Government.
