The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, under the leadership of Commandant EA Ajayi, has reiterated its commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration aimed at tackling illegal trade and suppressing smuggling activities across the state.
Commandant Ajayi made this known during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service, Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command Headquarters, Bida Road, Sokoto, on Wednesday, 29th October 2025, at about 1500 hours. The NSCDC State Commandant and his management team were warmly received by the Area Comptroller, Comptroller AI Ndako, in a show of mutual respect and cooperation.
During the visit, Commandant Ajayi expressed appreciation to the Area Comptroller for the cordial reception accorded to him and his team. He reaffirmed that the NSCDC, in line with its statutory mandate to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, remains fully committed to addressing security challenges and threats posed by criminal activities in the state.
Ajayi explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the two agencies, emphasizing the need for effective coordination, collaboration, and cooperation as essential elements for successful joint operations. He also encouraged public servants to perform their duties with sincerity, dedication, and a sense of responsibility to the nation.
In his remarks, Comptroller Ndako highlighted the key responsibilities of the Nigeria Customs Service, which include revenue collection, facilitation of legal trade, and suppression of smuggling activities. He stressed the importance of proactive intelligence sharing with the NSCDC to enhance operations and ensure the clampdown of illegal traders, particularly within border communities.
The Comptroller commended the efforts of the NSCDC in the state, acknowledging its strategic contributions to peace and security. He further pledged continued collaboration between both agencies to combat criminal activities and strengthen border security.
Comptroller Ndako expressed satisfaction with the NSCDC’s growing inter-agency synergy, stating that the Corps has proven its worth through its active participation in intelligence sharing and operational coordination with the Nigeria Customs Service. According to him, both agencies have continued to confront shared national security challenges through effective communication and mutual understanding.
Commandant Ajayi, in his concluding remarks, assured that the Corps would continue to enhance its operational performance and strengthen its contribution to peace and stability in Sokoto State. He reiterated the NSCDC’s unwavering commitment to strategic engagement and partnership among security agencies to address the root causes of insecurity through pragmatic and sustainable approaches.
