The Federal Fire Service Gombe State Command has actively participated in a comprehensive oil spillage simulation exercise organized by the management of the NNPC Gombe Depot. The simulation was aimed at testing and improving emergency response capabilities to incidents involving hazardous liquid spills, particularly petroleum products.
The exercise served as a platform to enhance inter-agency collaboration, strengthen preparedness, and evaluate the effectiveness of coordinated emergency responses among critical stakeholders. Participating agencies included the Gombe State Fire Service, the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), and the NNPC Fire Department, among others.
The Federal Fire Service delegation was led by ASF I J.J. Alama from the Public Education and School Outreach Unit under the Inspection, Investigation, and Enforcement Department. During the exercise, ASF Alama presented key recommendations on containment strategies, environmental protection, and safety procedures for managing oil spillage and preventing secondary fire outbreaks.
He emphasized the need for continuous training, proactive risk assessment, and robust community awareness as vital components of national emergency preparedness.
The Federal Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and critical infrastructure through sustained collaboration with the NNPC and other relevant agencies within the oil and gas industry.
