The Federal Capital Territory Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in law enforcement by strengthening collaboration with the Police Complaint Response Unit (CRU).
During a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Nigeria Police Force, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, lauded the CRU’s efforts in enhancing public confidence through improved complaint-handling mechanisms and regular operational updates.
She emphasised the vital role of the media in bridging the gap between citizens and law enforcement agencies, noting that journalists would continue to provide a platform for members of the public to report grievances and seek redress on issues involving police conduct.
The NUJ chairman further stated that journalists across the Federal Capital Territory would closely monitor the CRU’s performance, including its complaint resolution processes and accountability metrics, to ensure that reported cases receive prompt attention and appropriate action. She added that sustained media oversight would help promote transparency, strengthen public trust and encourage continuous improvements in police service delivery.
