The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its dedication to promoting stronger civil–military relations through sports and community engagement initiatives. This commitment was restated by the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General Gold Chibuisi, during the commissioning of the newly renovated Hole 3 Tee Box at the Kano Golf Club on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The project was executed by the Headquarters, 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
Major General Chibuisi noted that the initiative aligns with the Nigerian Army’s efforts to build mutual trust, foster collaboration, and strengthen its bond with host communities. He commended the Commander of 3 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Tukur, for his vision and leadership in initiating and completing the project, describing it as a symbol of friendship and partnership between the military and the civilian population.
Brigadier General Tukur, while speaking at the event, reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to deepening civil–military cooperation through people-centered and non-kinetic activities. He emphasized that such initiatives help sustain peaceful coexistence and mutual respect between the Army and the communities it serves.
Also speaking, the Commander of the Armed Forces Specialist Hospital, Kano, Colonel Ishiaku Abdulkareem, highlighted the historic importance of the Kano Golf Club, established in 1908. He praised the Nigerian Army for contributing to the preservation of the club’s legacy and for maintaining a long-standing relationship built on respect and cooperation.
The President of the Kano Golf Club, Alhaji Babangida Umar, expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army for renovating the golf facility, describing the gesture as a reflection of the Army’s commitment to community development and national unity.
In a related event, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Major General A.S.M. Wase, commissioned the newly renovated Soldiers’ Club at the 3 Brigade, Bukavu Barracks, Kano. The upgraded facility, which provides a comfortable and morale-boosting space for troops, was designed to enhance welfare and recreation among personnel.
The Garrison Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ikechukwu Ekoh, lauded the Brigade Commander’s visionary leadership and unwavering support in completing the renovation, noting that the project aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s “Soldier First” policy aimed at improving the well-being of Nigerian Army personnel.
Both events underscored the Army’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of its officers and men, as well as its continuous efforts to strengthen civil–military harmony across the nation.
