CG Olumode Redeploys Lagos/Ogun Zonal Controller to Strengthen Leadership and Enhance Service Delivery

As part of ongoing reforms to reposition the Federal Fire Service (FFS) for greater efficiency, professionalism, and improved service delivery, the Controller General, Olumode Adeyemi Samuel, has approved a strategic leadership redeployment within Zone A Headquarters, Lagos Island.

The redeployment reflects the Controller General’s commitment to strengthening leadership accountability and operational performance across all formations of the Service. It culminated in the official handover ceremony between the outgoing Zonal Controller, Deputy Controller General (Fire) Ijeoma Achi Okidi, and the incoming Zonal Controller, Assistant Controller General (Fire) Baro Alpha Sonkyara, held on Thursday, October 10, 2025.

A symbolic highlight of the event was the presentation of the Service Flag to ACGF Baro Alpha Sonkyara, marking the formal transfer of authority and responsibility for the Lagos and Ogun State Commands.

The exercise was conducted in an atmosphere of professionalism, respect, and dedication to duty, further underscoring the Controller General’s vision to reinforce the Service’s leadership structure and sustain ongoing institutional reforms.

Both senior officers reaffirmed their loyalty to the Federal Fire Service and pledged unwavering commitment to supporting the Controller General’s drive to build a modern, proactive, and people-centered firefighting organization focused on safeguarding lives, property, and national assets across Nigeria.
