Troops Repel Bandits in Taraba, Neutralize Two Terrorists and Recover Weapons

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have foiled a planned terrorist attack in Taraba State, neutralizing two terrorists and seizing arms and equipment.

The operation, conducted on October 1, 2025, was part of Operation Lafiya Nakowa, a sustained effort to flush out terrorists and criminal gangs in the state. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops advanced to Tor Ikyeghgba village where armed bandits were reportedly gathering. On arrival, the soldiers encountered the terrorists along the Powerline axis and engaged them with superior firepower, killing two.

Recovered items include a locally fabricated pistol, two Dane guns, three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a Baofeng radio, a motorcycle, and other materials.

Commending the troops for their swift and professional response, Commander 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, urged them to sustain the momentum. He reassured residents of Taraba State that the Army remains committed to ensuring peace, safety, and security.

He further appealed to the public to support ongoing military operations by providing timely and credible information to aid in the fight against criminality.
