The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, under the leadership of Commandant EA Ajayi, has taken proactive steps to reinforce collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) in a bid to strengthen the state’s security architecture.

Commandant Ajayi paid a courtesy visit to the Sokoto State Director of DSS, Muhammad Saidu, on Friday, 26th September 2025, where both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to intelligence sharing and joint operations.

During the visit, the NSCDC boss expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him and his team. He emphasized the critical role of credible intelligence in curbing insecurity, stressing that effective cooperation among security agencies is vital to dismantle criminal networks and guarantee a safer society.

Ajayi highlighted the need for systematic and empirical approaches to intelligence gathering, noting that robust collaboration will help eliminate criminal elements and create a more secure and vibrant future for citizens of Sokoto State.

In his response, the State Director of DSS, Muhammad Saidu, acknowledged the strong existing relationship between both agencies and pledged continued cooperation. He also pointed out the prevailing security challenges in Sokoto, including banditry, kidnapping, and insurgent activities by groups such as ISWAP across several frontline local government areas including Sabon-Birni, Tureta, Goronyo, Isa, Rabah, Binji, Silame, Tangaza, and Wurno.

Commandant Ajayi assured that the NSCDC, working closely with the DSS, will adopt strategic and holistic measures to tackle insurgency and other criminal activities in the state. He called for unified efforts to flush out criminals from their hideouts and ensure lasting peace across Sokoto State.
