The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, has inaugurated an expanded stakeholders’ committee aimed at strengthening the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) in the state. The initiative was unveiled during a high-level State Coordination Meeting convened by the State Commandant, Igbo, at the Command Headquarters in Asaba on Thursday.
The meeting formed part of the ongoing implementation of the 2024 National Protection Policy and Strategy (NPPS), which was signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and directed to be coordinated by the NSCDC under the supervision of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The session attracted wide participation from relevant stakeholders, including sister security agencies, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), the Ministry of Transport, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), oil and gas firms, power and telecommunications companies, among others. Proceedings began with a technical session involving security agencies only, where strategies and modalities for achieving the national mandate were carefully discussed.
A second, expanded session followed with all stakeholders in attendance. The discussions emphasized the need for effective communication among stakeholders, real-time reporting and escalation of emergencies, synergy across sectors, and rapid response in the event of any security breach.
The meeting ended with a unanimous resolution by all participants to work collectively for the successful implementation of the NPPS, reinforcing the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in Delta State and contributing to the overall security and stability of the nation.
