The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled an attempted attack by armed bandits along the Dutsinma-Kurfi highway in Dutsinma local government area of the State.

According to a press release by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, February 23, 2025, when suspected armed bandits targeted officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on duty.

He said upon receiving a distress call at around 12:57am, operatives from the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly mobilised to the scene.

A gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to flee, with some sustaining gunshot injuries.

During a search of the area, security operatives discovered the body of one neutralised suspected bandit.

The police have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continued.

The Police Command, therefore, reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the State.
