Ekiti NSCDC commandant assumes office, vows to fight crime

The new commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ekiti State Command, Mr Toma Matthew Enya, said on Monday that the security agency would open new channels to prevent crime and criminality in the state.

Toma, who spoke in Ado Ekiti while taking over from the immediate past state commandant, Dr Oluwaseun Sosina, assured of the readiness of the command under him to partner other security agencies to ensure drastic reduction in crime activities in the state.

According to a statement in Ado Ekiti by the NSCDC State Public Relations Officer, Tolulope Afolabi, the new Commandant expressed commitment to fairness, equity, justice and protection of fundamental human rights while carrying out his duties.

Toma assured that his administration would “concentrate on the achievements of the former commandant and open new channels to prevent crime and criminality in the state.

“Ekiti is one of the peaceful states in Nigeria. This is an attestation of the work of the state government and all the security agencies in the state.

“This command is ready to partner with peace loving organisation, individuals and groups that are ready to support especially in the area of protection of critical national assets and infrastructure so as to allow end users to enjoy the services provided by government and other services provider in the state,” the statement said.

Toma appealed to the general public “to continue in their support for the command and other security agencies by giving quick information that can aid arrest of criminals and deter aggression.”
