ONSA COMMENDS NSCDC DOGGEDNESS IN SAFEGUARDING CRITICAL NATIONAL ASSETS

The Director, Law Enforcement and Liaison, Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA); Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Rex Dundun, has applauded the contributions of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in in the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure across the federation.

AIG Dundun stated this at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja during a courtesy visit to the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR.

He specifically commended the NSCDC for constantly feeding ONSA with security reports for appropriate actions.

The Director who assumed office last September, recalled appreciable inputs from officers of the NSCDC who are seconded to the ONSA, saying they are performing creditably.

He encouraged all law enforcement agencies in the country to be on the same page with one another and embrace coordination, expressing hope that such action will help to outsmart criminal elements who are bent in sabotaging all efforts put in place.

On the National Policy on transnational crimes aimed at protection of mineral resources, AIG Dundun said all security agencies are to be represented.

Transnational Crimes result in illegal drugs smuggling and illegal smuggling in arms etc, which have a lot of ripple effects, the Director explained.

He added, “if we are not working together, we can not achieve success; we have to put our heads together.”

The Director’s visit which aimed to rub minds with the NSCDC helmsman also underscored the need for more capacity building trainings for personnel of the Corps with a pledge to support for enhanced performance when request are made through the ONSA.

Responding, the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, appreciated the Director for his visit and expressed delight on the establishment of the office for paramilitary agencies to channel their reports to the ONSA.

According to him, such opportunity provides for harnessing and bringing together of Intelligence to be able to proactively confront insecurity.

In his words, the NSCDC upholds synergy as one of its topmost priorities, and promised to leverage on the opportunity on training and retraining of the manpower of Corps provided by the office of the national security adviser.
