NSCDC tasks 137 graduating officers on professionalism

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Capital Territory Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has charged 137 graduating officers and men to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and discipline as they embark on their security assignments.

Speaking during the Passing Out Parade of the Batch B Basic Arms Training held on Tuesday, at the FCT Command Headquarters in Abuja, the Commandant noted the importance of adhering to the rules of engagement in the discharge of their duties.

Odumosu urged the personnel to remain vigilant, disciplined, and focused as they take up their roles in safeguarding lives, property, and critical national infrastructure within the FCT.

“As you are being deployed today to your various places of assignment, remember not to leave your good orientation behind and always give your best, work smart, and think smart all the time.

“In the discharge of your legitimate duties, always remember the rules of engagement, be professional in handling your riffles, protect yourself, protect your rifles, protect lives and property,” he urged the officers.

The commandant reminded the officers that their rigorous training had prepared them to face security challenges with competence and resolve.

He highlighted the significance of their role in supporting the Command’s efforts to combat vandalism, illegal mining, theft of public infrastructure, and other crimes.

“To whom much is given, much is expected,” Odumosu said.

He commended the instructors for their dedication to preparing the officers for their responsibilities, noting that their expertise had been instrumental in sharpening the skills and instilling the values needed for the job.

The Commandant also acknowledged the support of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, and the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, whose leadership and resources have strengthened the Command’s capacity to meet security demands.

Odumosu concluded by assuring the public of the Command’s continued dedication to its mandate of protecting lives and critical infrastructure, promising that the Corps would not relent in its efforts to ensure safety and security across the FCT.

The 137 officers are part of a broader effort by the FCT Command to enhance its operational capabilities.

Since October 2024, a total of 272 officers and men have been retrained under the Batch A and B programmes.
