The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, has reiterated that sustainable security can only be achieved through collective responsibility and active collaboration among government, security agencies, traditional institutions, the private sector, and communities.
Speaking at the Delta State Security Summit held on 17 June 2026 under the theme “Security: A Collective Responsibility,” the State Commandant emphasized that no single agency or institution can effectively secure society alone, particularly in the face of emerging security challenges such as cultism, kidnapping, vandalism of critical infrastructure, cybercrime, and communal conflicts.
The Command highlighted the contributions of NSCDC in safeguarding lives, property, and critical national assets across the state. In the fight against vandalism and crude oil theft, the Command recorded several arrests, charged 22 cases to court, and secured six convictions in 2026. The Command reaffirmed its determination to make Delta State hostile to economic saboteurs.
As part of efforts to protect critical infrastructure, the Corps conducted sensitization campaigns across 17 Local Government Areas on the protection of telecommunications facilities, including base stations and fibre optic cables. NSCDC personnel are also actively participating in Operation Delta Sweep and providing VIP protection services in support of the state’s security architecture.
On the Safe Schools Initiative, the Command disclosed that vulnerability assessments have been conducted in government schools to identify threats and recommend appropriate mitigation measures. The NSCDC Special Female Squad has also been deployed to strengthen school safety and child protection efforts.
The Command noted that intelligence supplied by vigilant citizens, community partnerships, and inter-agency cooperation remain critical tools in crime prevention and conflict management.
To further strengthen security in Delta State, the NSCDC recommended enhanced intelligence sharing, stronger community-based security initiatives, increased youth engagement programmes, community ownership of critical infrastructure protection, and sustained inter-agency collaboration under Operation Delta Sweep.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to working with all stakeholders to promote peace, protect critical assets, and create a secure environment for development and prosperity in delta state
