The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Kwara State Command, under the leadership of the State Controller, ACF Bakare Mary, hosted students of Al-Wahyain International Academy (AIA), Ilorin, during an educational excursion aimed at enhancing their understanding of fire safety, emergency response, and the critical role of the Fire Service in safeguarding lives and property.
The students, accompanied by their teachers and led by Mrs. Busari Lateefat, were warmly received by officers of the Command. The visit provided a unique opportunity for the students to gain firsthand knowledge of the operations, responsibilities, and public safety functions of the Federal Fire Service.
As part of the excursion, the students participated in an interactive fire safety awareness session, where they were educated on fire prevention measures, common causes of fire outbreaks, and the appropriate actions to take during fire emergencies.
Delivering a lecture during the programme, Deputy Superintendent of Fire (DSF) Keji Yusuf enlightened the students on the proper use of fire extinguishers, highlighting their importance as vital firefighting tools for controlling fires at their early stages. He also demonstrated the operation of various firefighting equipment and showcased the discharge of water from a fire appliance, giving the students practical exposure to firefighting operations.
The students were further sensitised to the importance of familiarising themselves with fire safety equipment commonly found in homes, schools, and public places. They were encouraged to cultivate safe habits, keep emergency exit routes clear at all times, understand the basic use of fire safety devices, and remain safety-conscious in their daily activities.
Speaking at the end of the visit, the Head of the School expressed appreciation to the Federal Fire Service, Kwara State Command, for the warm reception and the insightful educational experience provided to the students. The school commended the Command’s commitment to promoting fire safety awareness among young people.
The visit concluded with a group photograph, commemorating the occasion and reinforcing the partnership between the educational institution and the Federal Fire Service in advancing fire safety education and community awareness.
