Deeply concerned by the recent abduction of students from the Mussa Biri District Primary and Junior Secondary School in the Askira/Uba Chiefdom of Borno State, the Margi Cultural Association (Gwagwalada and Kwali Area Council chapters, FCT) has made an urgent appeal to both the Federal and Borno State governments to intensify efforts to ensure the safe release of the victims.
Speaking on behalf of the Margi community in Gwagwalada and Kwali, the association’s chairman, Mr. Yunana Hayatu, expressed confidence in the government’s capacity to secure the children’s freedom.
”We pray for the safe, unconditional, and unharmed return of these abducted children to their families in good health,” Hayatu stated.
The association extended its prayers to the parents, the affected community, and the authorities, asking for strength and wisdom to navigate this painful ordeal.
”We remain optimistic that they will return safely to continue their education without further disruption,” the association added.
Furthermore, the association commiserated with the Hakemi (District Head) and the Lawan (Village Head) of Mussa town in the Askira/Uba Local Government Area, as well as the law-abiding residents of the community, expressing deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident which occurred on May 15, 2026.
In a message of solidarity to the affected families, the association stated: “Please accept our deepest sympathies and solidarity during this incredibly difficult time.”
The association noted that the incident has thrown the community into severe trauma and anxiety, drawing painful parallels to the Chibok community’s plight, where numerous schoolgirls were kidnapped and many remain unaccounted for to this day.
