The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has honoured the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of its commitment to protecting telecommunications infrastructure across the state.
The award was presented to the Command under the leadership of the State Commandant, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru, in acknowledgement of the Corps’ professionalism, dedication and sustained support in safeguarding critical national information infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted telecommunications services in Nasarawa State.
According to ALTON, the recognition was in appreciation of the Command’s outstanding efforts and strong partnership with telecommunications operators in protecting facilities essential to communication and national development. The association noted that the NSCDC’s contributions have played a significant role in maintaining the resilience and continuity of telecommunications services across the state.
The award highlights the importance of collaboration between security agencies and operators of critical infrastructure in tackling threats such as vandalism, theft, sabotage and other criminal activities capable of disrupting communication networks and services.
Speaking while receiving the certificate, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru expressed appreciation to ALTON for the recognition and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with telecommunications operators and other stakeholders. He stated that the protection of telecommunications infrastructure remains a shared responsibility and assured that the NSCDC would continue to deploy personnel, intelligence assets and operational resources to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure throughout the state.
The Commandant also called for improved information sharing and the prompt reporting of suspicious activities around telecommunications facilities, stressing that timely intelligence is vital to preventing attacks and ensuring uninterrupted communication services. He assured telecommunications operators of the Command’s readiness to provide the necessary security support within its statutory mandate.
The NSCDC Nasarawa State Command described the recognition as an encouragement to sustain its professionalism, inter-agency cooperation and dedication to protecting critical national assets, noting that such efforts are essential to the security and socio-economic development of Nasarawa State and the nation at large.
