By Samuel Ike, Abuja

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has rescued a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Miss Abigail Peh, who went missing following a violent disturbance at Polling Unit 006, Ward 9, Ajagba, in Olaoluwa Local Government Area of Osun State.

Miss Peh, a 24-year-old corps member from Delta State serving as Assistant Presiding Officer II (APO II), reportedly fled into a nearby forest when violence erupted at her polling unit during the governorship election on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

According to reports, personnel of the NSCDC, working in collaboration with community leaders, immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation after receiving information about her disappearance. The operation lasted approximately two hours before she was located in the Elewudu area of Ajagba, Olaoluwa LGA.

Sources disclosed that the corps member had changed her clothing while hiding due to panic, fear, and concerns about a possible attack by hoodlums. She was found in possession of her luggage, which she had brought directly from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Registration Area Centre (RAC) to Polling Unit 006, where she was deployed for election duties.

The successful rescue underscores the prompt response of security personnel and the cooperation of local community leaders in ensuring the safety of election officials during the poll.

Following her rescue, Miss Abigail Peh was safely handed over to the Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO) for Ward 9, Mrs. Ige Oluwabusayo.
