”The Defender of the Nation: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Three-Year Onslaught Against Insecurity” written by Isiaka Mustapha, Chief Operating Officer/Editor-In-Chief, People’s Security Monitor, has received formal endorsement from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter Governmental Affairs ahead of its public presentation during the 2026 People’s Security Monitor Annual Security Conference and Award Ceremony scheduled for Thursday, 4 June 2026 in Abuja.
The 21-chapter publication with ISBN 978-978-68-1148-2 presents a detailed examination of the security architecture, policy reforms, strategic operations, and governance decisions undertaken by Bola Ahmed Tinubu since assuming office in May 2023. The book offers a broad assessment of the administration’s confrontational approach towards terrorism, banditry, oil theft, kidnapping, separatist violence, pipeline vandalism, and other threats confronting Nigeria’s internal stability.
According to the endorsement letter with Reference Number FMSDIGA/PS/ADM/010/1/48, signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, the Federal Government acknowledged the relevance and national importance of the publication.
The letter stated:
“The Ministry commends your initiative in documenting the efforts of the Federal Government towards addressing insecurity and promoting national stability. The publication is timely and aligns with ongoing efforts to deepen public understanding of policies and programmes under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
“The Honourable Minister is pleased to convey the Ministry’s endorsement of the public presentation scheduled to hold on Thursday, 4th June 2026.
“The Ministry recognizes the relevance of this publication on national discourse on security and policy implementation and encourages stakeholders to support the initiative.”
The book presents President Tinubu’s first three years in office as a defining period marked by difficult policy choices, aggressive restructuring of security operations, and intensified collaboration among intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Through extensive commentary and security analysis, the author examines how the administration adopted what he described as a “whole of government and whole of society” approach in confronting insecurity across the federation.
Several chapters reportedly focus on the President’s tough decisions, including increased operational funding for security agencies, renewed border surveillance initiatives, expansion of intelligence gathering networks, reforms in defence procurement systems, deployment of advanced surveillance technology, and strategic appointments within the armed forces and security services. The publication also analyses the political and economic sacrifices associated with these decisions, particularly amid public pressure arising from subsidy removal, economic reforms, and security expectations.
The author further evaluates gains recorded under the Tinubu administration, including the disruption of criminal enclaves in several regions, rescue of kidnapped victims, renewed protection of critical national assets, reduction in oil theft activities, improved inter agency coordination, and strengthened engagement with community based security stakeholders. The book also highlights ongoing challenges confronting the country, while arguing that sustained institutional reforms remain essential to long term national stability.
Security experts, policymakers, academics, diplomats, traditional rulers, and heads of security agencies are expected to attend the official unveiling of the book during the 2026 People’s Security Monitor Annual Security Conference and Award Ceremony, where discussions will centre on national security governance, intelligence coordination, community resilience, and the future of Nigeria’s internal security framework under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
