Deployed operatives of the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been directed to conduct themselves in extreme ethical and professional order while carrying out their assigned responsibilities in the nationwide protest billed to take off this morning.
Commandant Jimoh Suleiman Agboola, the Helmsman of the Delta State Command of the NSCDC gave this directive yesterday during a strategic meeting held with Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, HODs, HOUs and Tactical Unit Commanders, while directing the Head of the State NSCDC to query all absentees at the meeting.
Briefing the NSCDC officers about his meeting with the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi on Tuesday, Commandant Jimoh explained: ”in as much as there is right to a peaceful protest, there is no right to destruction of government infrastructures and properties of private individuals.”
”Therefore all Critical National Assets of Federal, State, Local governments and properties of individuals in Delta must be protected during and after the peaceful protests. There must be decorum and civility in the conduct of the protest, and I can assure the protesters of their safety so long they comport themselves within the ambience of the law.” Commandant Jimoh further stressed.
He charged Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to work in synergy with other sister security agencies especially the Nigeria Police, the DSS and the Military, warning them not to work in isolation; they are also to ensure timely report of events during the protest and anyone not complying with will be replaced immediately.
Commandant Jimoh however seized the opportunity of the meeting to warn fuel stations hoarding and selling fuel at a higher price against the government approved price in the name of the planned protest to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
