The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has recorded another significant operational success in its ongoing crackdown on railway vandals and economic saboteurs with the arrest of two suspected offenders in the state.
The suspects, Mohammed Sale (21) and Mohammed Mailafiya (43), both from Agyaragu Village in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, were apprehended at the scene of the crime following credible intelligence on their alleged illegal activities in the area.
The swift response of NSCDC operatives led to their arrest before further damage could be inflicted on critical railway infrastructure.
The State Commandant, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru, disclosed this development to journalists through the Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Corps Jerry Victor. He emphasized that the Corps remains committed to its mandate of protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure across the state. He described railway vandalism as a serious economic crime capable of undermining national development and endangering public safety.
Commandant Brah noted that the latest arrest comes barely one week after the Command paraded five notorious railway vandals and recovered over thirty-three cut रेलs, alongside other materials used in carrying out such criminal acts. He added that the Command’s intensified surveillance and intelligence-driven operations are already yielding tangible results.
Issuing a stern warning, the Commandant stated: “The Command under my leadership will not relent in its efforts to rid Nasarawa State of crime and criminality. We are determined to make the state completely uninhabitable for criminal elements. They have only one option—to turn a new leaf. Otherwise, we will continue to pursue and bring them to justice.”
He further warned that as electioneering campaigns approach, some individuals may attempt to exploit the period to create unrest and engage in unlawful activities. He stressed that the Command will not tolerate any act capable of disrupting the peace and security of the state.
“As we approach the electioneering period, we are aware that some individuals may seek to create unrest. The NSCDC in Nasarawa State will not tolerate such actions. We are fully prepared to deal decisively with anyone or group found wanting.”
The Commandant assured law-abiding citizens of the Corps’ unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and securing all critical national assets. He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
The suspects will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
