Olumode Appreciates Bunu Forum, Clears Air on Convoy Controversy

The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Bunu Progressive Forum for organising a grand homecoming ceremony in his honour in Kabba on April 3, 2026.
He also commended the presence of distinguished dignitaries at the event, including the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was represented by his deputy, Joel Salifu Oyibo.
Special appreciation was extended to the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, for his royal blessings and fatherly support. The Controller General also acknowledged the presence of the National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Durosinmi Meseko, alongside other notable personalities.
He further appreciated the attendance of respected traditional rulers from across the state, including the Elulu of Mopa, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, and the Maigari of Lokoja, Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi, among others, whose presence added prestige and cultural significance to the occasion.
The event was organised not only to celebrate his appointment but also to appreciate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for entrusting him with the office of Controller General of the Federal Fire Service. The Bunu Progressive Forum also acknowledged the support of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his contributions to the Service.
The Controller General described the reception as a strong demonstration of unity, support, and a shared commitment to national development and public safety.
In response to public reactions generated by a video published on the Service’s official platform, the Federal Fire Service has clarified concerns regarding the perceived long convoy associated with the Controller General.
For clarity, the Controller General travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle, and essential security support. The additional vehicles seen in the footage belonged to Deputy Controllers General (DCGs), Assistant Controllers General (ACGs), and other senior officers of the Service who attended the event.
Their presence formed part of the Service’s management team, and their attendance alongside the Controller General was deliberate, ensuring proper coordination and adequate security coverage for all senior officers at the high-profile event.
The Federal Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and responsible public engagement. It assured Nigerians that its operations and official movements are always guided by necessity, safety considerations, and established best practices.
The Controller General once again expressed his sincere gratitude to the Bunu Progressive Forum and the people of Kabba for the honour and warm reception.
