The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, MDRM, MBA, FCNA, ACTI, recently marked a historic homecoming and thanksgiving in Kabba, Kogi State, following his appointment on August 14, 2025.
The visit featured a series of high-level engagements across the state, including courtesy visits to the Elulu of Mopa, Oba Muyiwa Ibeun; the Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV; and his hometown, Odo-Ape. At Odo-Ape, he was warmly received by the Olu-Ape, Oba Jimoh Atanda Obafemi, alongside other traditional rulers from Kogi West, amid colourful cultural displays, drumming, and royal prayers for a successful tenure.
The delegation also paid homage to the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Owoniyi, before proceeding to a grand reception held at the Olonijola Event Centre in Kabba.
The event attracted prominent dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Joel Salifu Oyibo, who represented Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo; the National Deputy Secretary of the APC, Durosinmi Meseko; and the former Controller General of the FFS, Dr. Ibrahim Alhaji Liman, alongside royal fathers and other distinguished guests.
In their remarks, the Deputy Governor and traditional rulers, including the Obaro of Kabba, the Maigari of Lokoja, and the Elulu of Mopa, expressed appreciation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for appointing Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as Controller General of the Federal Fire Service.
Stakeholders at the event also advocated for improved fire safety infrastructure in Kogi State. The Maigari of Lokoja called for the establishment of a National Fire Training School in the state, while the Obaro of Kabba appealed for the siting of a Fire Station in Kabba, the headquarters of Kogi West. The state government further reiterated its desire for increased Federal Fire Service presence across the state.
In response, the Controller General assured that plans are already underway to establish a Fire Station in Kabba to address recurring fire incidents in the area.
He expressed gratitude for the warm reception and called for continued prayers, support, and collaboration from traditional rulers and stakeholders as the Service intensifies efforts to strengthen fire safety and emergency response nationwide.
