A delegation from the Army Headquarters Department of Operations (AHQ DAOPS), on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, visited the North-East theatre to assess ongoing operational activities and the overall effectiveness of Operation HADIN KAI. The visit took place at the Headquarters, Theatre Command Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), located at Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri.
The team was received by the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar. The visit forms part of the Army Headquarters’ continuous efforts to evaluate operations and strengthen performance across various theatres. During the engagement, the delegation received a comprehensive operational briefing detailing activities and progress within the OPHK theatre.
In his remarks, the Team Leader, Colonel Olubukola Olusanya, commended the Theatre Command for the detailed and insightful briefing, noting that it clearly reflected the significant successes recorded in the theatre. He explained that the visit was aimed at assessing ongoing operations and identifying areas requiring urgent attention, adding that such periodic assessments are designed to ensure continuous improvement through timely recommendations and interventions.
Colonel Olusanya further assured the Theatre Commander and his management team that the delegation would conduct a thorough and objective evaluation, with feedback intended to enhance operational effectiveness not only in the North-East but across all theatres of operation.
In his response, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar emphasised the importance of the AHQ DAOPS team in identifying operational gaps and strengthening ongoing military efforts. He encouraged the delegation to provide actionable recommendations that would further improve efficiency in Operation HADIN KAI and other operations nationwide, stressing that the theatre places high value on external assessments.
The Theatre Commander also disclosed that troops of Operation HADIN KAI recently neutralised over 300 terrorists across multiple fronts, including the Timbuktu Triangle, Sambisa Forest, and Mallam Fatori, during the decisive phase of ongoing dry season operations. He noted that the achievement has significantly boosted troop morale, attributing the success to robust logistics, effective administrative support, and the implementation of the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy.
