NSCDC Lagos Strengthens Community Engagement, Seeks Support for Infrastructure Protection

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has intensified its stakeholder engagement across Apapa, Mile 2, Ajeromi, and Aguda divisions to boost the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI-P).
The engagement, organised by the Area E Command, brought together stakeholders from Apapa and Ifelodun Local Government Areas on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Apapa LGA Hall.
Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro—represented by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin—said the initiative was timely and crucial in addressing rising threats to public infrastructure. He commended community stakeholders for their collaboration with the Corps in tackling sabotage and safeguarding national assets.
He also urged members of the Scrap Dealers and Employers Association operating within the divisions to strictly comply with government regulations guiding their activities. The Commandant warned the public against vandalism, noting that such acts undermine the state’s infrastructure and economic stability, and assured that offenders would face the full weight of the law.
Representing the Chairman of Apapa LGA, Hon. Adejumoke Idowu Senbanjo, the Council Manager, Mrs. Adebanji Oluwatoyin, praised the NSCDC’s coordinated efforts in protecting infrastructure. She emphasised that sustained collaboration is essential to securing roads, telecommunications facilities, manholes, electrical installations, rail tracks, fibre optic cables, and other public and private utilities.
Similarly, the Chairman of Ifelodun LGA, Hon. Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo—represented by his Chief Security Officer—reaffirmed the council’s commitment to providing operational vehicles to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of the NSCDC and other security agencies within the area.
The Nigerian Navy, represented by Lt. Commander A.J. Omosola of NNS Beecroft, pledged continued support for coordinated efforts in policing critical national infrastructure. He stressed the need to strengthen synergy, intelligence gathering, and surveillance operations.
A representative of the National Orientation Agency also called for sustained public support in reducing vandalism to the barest minimum, while commending the NSCDC for its grassroots sensitisation efforts across the state.
The Chairman of the Scrap Dealers Association in Apapa, represented by the association’s spokesperson, assured that measures were being implemented to ensure full compliance with existing laws and operational guidelines.
In his remarks, the Area Commander of Area E Command, Assistant Commandant of Corps Adamu Nana, alongside divisional officers, reaffirmed their commitment to combating vandalism and prosecuting offenders within their areas of responsibility.
The event attracted goodwill messages from representatives of various organisations, including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Christian Association of Nigeria, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, market leaders, community development associations, and other stakeholders.
