The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, has successfully responded to and contained a fire outbreak at a residential building in Kumbiya-Kumbiya, Layin Dogon Dibino, Gombe, on March 27, 2026.
According to the Service, the distress call was received at about 13:41 hours, prompting the immediate deployment of firefighters from the ATM Fire Station. The swift response ensured the rapid containment of the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
The incident involved a two-bedroom residential building owned by Aminu Muazu. Preliminary assessment revealed that property worth approximately ₦3 million was affected, while items valued at about ₦7 million were successfully salvaged.
No casualties were recorded during the incident, as firefighters acted promptly to secure the area and protect lives and property.
The firefighting operation was led by ASF I Mohammad Gambo, with operational support from ASF II Mu’azu Tagwai, who operated the fire appliance. Personnel from the Gombe State Fire Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were also on ground, providing additional support.
A post-incident inspection was conducted to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and to eliminate any risk of re-ignition before the crew safely returned to base.
The Federal Fire Service urged members of the public to remain vigilant and adopt necessary fire safety measures, particularly in residential buildings, to prevent future occurrences.
