COAS SHAIBU, IGP DISU REAFFIRM JOINT SECURITY STRATEGY TO COMBAT NATIONAL THREATS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, have held a strategic meeting to review the evolving security landscape in Nigeria and chart a coordinated path toward addressing emerging threats.
During the engagement, both security chiefs emphasised that a unified and integrated approach among all security agencies is essential to effectively confront the nation’s security challenges. They agreed on the need to strengthen inter-agency cooperation as a critical tool for safeguarding national peace and stability.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration through improved intelligence sharing, coordinated joint operations, and sustained capacity-building initiatives aimed at boosting operational efficiency across their respective forces.
IGP Disu commended the Nigerian Army for its continued support in the training and professional development of police personnel, noting that such efforts have significantly enhanced the operational readiness of the Force. In response, Lieutenant General Shaibu acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Nigeria Police in joint operations, particularly in the fight against banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.
Both the COAS and the IGP pledged to further deepen their partnership, stressing that sustained synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force remains indispensable to achieving lasting peace and security across the country.
They also highlighted the importance of leveraging modern technology and intelligence-driven policing in tackling complex security threats, noting that innovation will play a key role in future security operations.
Furthermore, the security chiefs reiterated their resolve to maintain continuous engagement and strategic dialogue, ensuring that all security agencies remain aligned in their mission to protect lives, property, and uphold national unity.
