The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has deployed 1,000 officers and men, along with operational assets, to strengthen security arrangements across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The State Commandant, Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye, disclosed that the deployment was outlined in an operational order issued to all formations and tactical units on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. The directive is aimed at ensuring a peaceful conclusion of the Ramadan fast as well as maintaining heightened security during the Easter celebrations in the state.
According to the Commandant, areas of responsibility include Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, worship centres, and other critical national, state, and local government assets and infrastructure.
He further stated that various tactical and specialised units have been mobilised for the operation. These include the Agro Rangers Squad, Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Rapid Tactical Squad, Anti-Vandalism Unit, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and the Disaster Management Unit. These teams will be strategically positioned in public spaces and other vulnerable locations prone to criminal activities.
Commandant Ibiloye also directed Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to intensify surveillance and conduct sustained visibility patrols across identified flashpoints within their jurisdictions. He emphasised the importance of collaboration with other security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering and information sharing.
While charging officers and men of the Corps to remain committed, vigilant, and professional in the discharge of their duties, the Commandant stressed the need to respect the fundamental rights of citizens. He also reiterated the strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Rules of Engagement (ROE), and Service Orders (SO).
Commandant Ibiloye extended his goodwill message to Muslim faithful, congratulating them on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. He urged residents of the state to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies during and after the festive period.
