Army Chief Reaffirms Loyalty to President Tinubu at Inter-Faith Iftar in Abuja


The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering loyalty to President and Commander in Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while acknowledging the administration’s continued support for the Armed Forces.
He made the remark in Abuja during a combined inter faith breaking of fast with officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army. The gathering brought together Christian and Muslim personnel serving in departments and commands at Army Headquarters.
According to the Army Chief, the event was organised to promote unity, discipline and mutual understanding among troops from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. He noted that the initiative reflects the Army’s commitment to strengthening cohesion within its ranks.
Lieutenant General Shaibu also observed that the rare overlap of the Christian Lenten season and the Muslim Ramadan fast carries deep spiritual significance. He said the convergence highlights the richness of Nigeria’s diversity and urged personnel to see religious and ethnic differences as a source of strength rather than division.
He further called on officers and soldiers to remain united, disciplined and dedicated in the discharge of their duties. The Army Chief also commended troops engaged in frontline operations across the country for their sacrifices, stressing the Army’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy and ensuring that citizens can carry out their socio economic activities without fear.
