Lagos NSCDC PRO Marks Birthday with Inmates at Oregun Special Correctional Centre
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin, celebrated his birthday with boys at the Special Correctional Centre in Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The Centre, led by Mr. Bashir Iyakpo, received the PRO alongside his family, friends, and well-wishers in what turned out to be a memorable and inspiring event.
During the visit, the Lagos NSCDC PRO and his team used the occasion to encourage the boys, renewing their hope and sharing valuable insights on the consequences of crime and the importance of embracing positive behavior upon regaining their freedom. The Director General of the Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies of Nigeria, Dr. Adekunle Aderemi, was represented by his daughter, Favour Adekunle, who delivered a compelling message centered on purpose and personal transformation. She reminded the boys that freedom does not automatically guarantee purpose, stressing that individuals can discover purpose in any circumstance, including within a correctional facility.
As part of the celebration, gifts were presented to the boys to commemorate the PRO’s birthday. The event featured goodwill messages, prayers, praise, and words of encouragement from guests, creating an atmosphere of hope and reflection. Speaking at the gathering, Superintendent Abolurin appreciated all attendees and described the outreach as “ministry without a building, humanity without party.” He urged celebrants to consider visiting correctional centres, orphanages, and other vulnerable groups when marking special occasions, in order to uplift the less privileged and contribute positively to society.
Among those present were members of the PRO’s family, including his elder brother, DSC Oluwaseyitan Abolurin; the Chief Security Officer of Tetracore, Mr. Remi; Evangelist Ronke Ayodeji; DSC Olufemi Thomas; representatives of Abbas Studio; Master Alhaj; and several other guests and supporters.
