The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has paid an official visit to the Fire Station of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil Local Government Area of Kano State as part of efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness and improve rapid response nationwide.
The visit was received by the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick Adedeji Atayero, who accorded the Controller General a quarter guard on arrival before hosting him and his entourage to a meeting at the Academy’s conference room. During the meeting, the Controller General expressed appreciation for the warm reception and commended the institution for its commitment to fire safety, discipline and academic excellence.
He described the Academy as a critical stakeholder in national safety and security development, noting that collaboration between the Service and training institutions remains essential to building a resilient emergency response system. In their remarks, members of the Academy’s management requested sustained partnership with the Federal Fire Service in the areas of safety preparedness and emergency response coordination.
In response, the Controller General assured the Academy of continued collaboration. He disclosed that upon completion of the National Fire Academy in Abuja, officers of the Police Academy would be included in specialised safety and fire management training programmes to further enhance institutional capacity.
The visit also featured an interactive session with fire personnel at the station, where Dr Olumode encouraged officers to remain dedicated and proud of their profession, describing firefighting as a noble service to humanity. The engagement boosted morale among officers of the Kano Command and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to leadership, mentorship and personnel welfare.
