FG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO NATIONAL SECURITY, ECONOMIC STABILITY AT FINANCE–DEFENCE MEETING

The Federal Government has reiterated its strong commitment to safeguarding national security and sustaining economic stability, following a high level working session between the Minister of State for Finance, Dr Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher G. Musa. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Finance and focused on strengthening collaboration between the finance and defence sectors.
The engagement underscored the administration’s recognition of security as a critical pillar for national development. Discussions centred on aligning fiscal planning with defence needs to ensure that security operations are adequately supported in line with national priorities.
Dr Uzoka-Anite commended the Defence Minister for his leadership and strategic direction, noting that effective security architecture is fundamental to peace, investor confidence, and overall economic progress. She emphasised that a secure environment remains essential for businesses to thrive and for citizens to pursue their livelihoods without fear.
The Minister of State for Finance further assured that government fiscal policies would continue to support defence and security initiatives, stressing that prudent resource allocation to the sector is necessary to maintain stability and resilience in the economy.
In his remarks, the Minister of Defence welcomed the collaboration and reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to protecting lives, property, and national interests. He expressed confidence that sustained inter ministerial cooperation would further strengthen national security, promote stability, and support Nigeria’s long term growth and shared prosperity.
