MINING MARSHALS RAID ILLEGAL MINING SITES IN OYO

Operatives of the Mining Marshals of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have carried out a coordinated operation in Saki, Oyo State, leading to the disruption of illegal mining activities and the dislodgement of operators engaged in unlawful mineral extraction.
The raid forms part of an ongoing nationwide enforcement campaign by the Corps to sanitise the mining sector, safeguard Nigeria’s solid mineral resources, and strengthen regulatory compliance across mining communities.
Speaking during the operation on behalf of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commander in charge of the Mining Marshals, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) John Onoja Attah, praised the operatives for their professionalism, discipline, and commitment to duty.
ACC Attah reaffirmed the determination of the Corps to sustain the crackdown on illegal mining activities nationwide, stressing that enforcement efforts would continue until full compliance with mining regulations is achieved.
He noted that the continued support from the leadership of the NSCDC remains critical to the effectiveness of field operations, adding that the Corps will not relent in its mandate to promote lawful, safe, and environmentally responsible mining practices.
The NSCDC warned that individuals and groups involved in illegal mining would be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with relevant laws, as enforcement operations continue across the country.
