The Commander, Corps of Signals (CCS), Major General Tanimu Abdullahi, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening partnership and collaboration with the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, Lagos, in furtherance of joint service cooperation and personnel development.
Major General Abdullahi made this known on 22 January 2026 while receiving the Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Ignatius Ilo, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Signals (HQ NAS), Murtala Mohammed House, Arakan Cantonment, Lagos.
While welcoming his guest, the CCS emphasised the importance of synergy among Armed Forces institutions, particularly with NAFRC, which is statutorily responsible for preparing retiring and retired military personnel for a smooth transition into civilian life. He noted that NAFRC’s core mandate in vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and skills acquisition aligns with the objectives of inter-service cooperation, especially within the context of joint operations and personnel welfare.
Major General Abdullahi further stated that the Corps of Signals remains the backbone of communications and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) support for the Nigerian Army. He assured that the Corps is open to meaningful collaboration with NAFRC and other relevant organisations to enhance capacity building and service delivery across the Armed Forces. He also described the Commandant as a dedicated and indefatigable senior officer who places high priority on the welfare of his coursemates and subordinates, noting that such leadership qualities are worthy of commendation.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commandant, NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Ignatius Ilo, expressed appreciation to the CCS for granting him audience despite his busy schedule. He recalled their long-standing professional relationship as coursemates and their shared service experiences at the Defence Headquarters, which he said have positioned them to work collectively towards the advancement of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Air Vice Marshal Ilo noted that both institutions stand to benefit significantly from enhanced collaboration and pledged his commitment to strengthening the existing relationship between NAFRC and the Corps of Signals. He assured that deliberate efforts would be made to elevate the partnership to a higher level of engagement. The Commandant also urged officers and personnel of HQ NAS to continue to support the CCS in driving the Corps of Signals towards the successful achievement of its mandate.
The visit featured a quarter guard, presentation of plaques, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
