GOC 8 Division Visits Tidibale Community, Assures Residents of Enhanced Security


The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Bemgba Paul Koughna, has reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to strengthening security in Tidibale Community, Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
As part of his first official engagements, Major General Koughna undertook an assessment visit to the community, where he assured residents of the Nigerian Army’s unwavering resolve to safeguard lives and property. Addressing community members, the GOC explained that the visit followed the safe return of residents who had earlier fled due to threats from bandits. He emphasized that restoring peace and normalcy remains a top priority, particularly to enable residents to resume their farming and other daily activities without fear.
The GOC disclosed that troops have been deployed and are now permanently stationed in Tidibale to maintain a strong security presence. He assured the community that soldiers remain alert and ready to respond swiftly to any threats, stressing that no part of Tidibale would be allowed to fall under the control of bandit groups. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, noting that community cooperation is critical to sustaining peace.
Speaking on behalf of the community, the Sarkin Arewa of Tidibale, Alhaji Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the GOC for the visit, describing it as timely and reassuring amid ongoing security challenges. He said the Army’s intervention has renewed hope among residents and commended its efforts in restoring safety and confidence in the area. Earlier, the GOC received an operational briefing from the Commanding Officer, 26 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Nasiru Mustapha, at the Forward Operating Base in Isa, which provided an update on the security situation and ongoing operations. The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its determination to continue working with local communities to achieve lasting peace and security in the North-West region.
