Federal Fire Service Launches Executive Leadership Training to Groom Future Leaders

In a strategic move to strengthen institutional continuity and build a sustainable leadership pipeline, the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has approved the commencement of a five-day Executive Leadership Training Programme for senior and mid-level officers of the Service. The programme, themed “Enhancing Strategic Leadership, Operational Excellence, and Public Safety in the Federal Fire Service,” began today at the Belmont Hotel, Wuye, Abuja.

The initiative builds on previous capacity-development programmes that largely focused on top management, while deliberately extending participation to middle-cadre officers, who are recognised as the next generation of command and policy drivers within the Service. This approach underscores the FFS leadership’s commitment to effective succession planning, institutional sustainability, and long-term operational efficiency.

The training is organised by the Federal Fire Service in partnership with Titans Holdings Limited and the Pan-African Leadership and Management Institute, and forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism, leadership competence, and ethical service delivery across all levels of the organisation.

Participants, drawn from senior and mid-level cadres across various commands nationwide, are being equipped with practical leadership tools and strategic skills required for higher responsibilities. Core areas of focus include strategic leadership and organisational transformation, ethics and professional conduct, attitudinal change, governance and policy, as well as future readiness.

The programme also aligns with the performance benchmarks contained in the Performance Bond signed by heads of agencies under the Ministry of Interior and the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. A key deliverable of the bond emphasises capacity building, institutional strengthening, leadership development, and improved service delivery across all agencies.

By extending structured leadership training to middle-level officers, the Controller-General is reaffirming the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to meeting these performance indicators, while ensuring that emerging leaders are well prepared to effectively discharge the Service’s mandate of protecting lives, property, and critical national assets.
