The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Samuel Adeyemi Olumode, MBA, MDRM, FCNA, ACTI, has received national recognition for his far-reaching reforms and modernization efforts, as he was honoured with the 2025 Distinguished Honour for Fire Service Reform and Modernization by People’s Security Monitor.
The prestigious award was presented at the 2025 Annual Security Summit and Recognition Awards held at the Merit House, Abuja. The event convened key stakeholders and leaders in Nigeria’s security and safety sector to deliberate on strategies for strengthening the nation’s security architecture.
Speaking as the Special Guest Speaker, CGF Olumode delivered a keynote address titled “Institutional Renewal for the Federal Fire Service: A Blueprint for Effective Response.” He underscored the need for stronger inter-agency collaboration, higher public safety standards, and sustained modernization as critical factors in building a responsive and resilient emergency management system.
The summit was attended by senior defence officials and prominent security experts, who emphasized the importance of technology-driven solutions, enhanced intelligence sharing, and active citizen participation in achieving national security objectives.
In his remarks, the Controller-General expressed deep appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his consistent support for the Federal Fire Service. He also commended the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his policy direction, leadership, and commitment to safety sector reforms. CGF Olumode further thanked People’s Security Monitor for the honour and reaffirmed the Service’s resolve to strengthen workforce capacity and expand community-based fire safety initiatives nationwide.
