State Fire Service Emphasizes Inter-Agency Collaboration During Deputy Governor’s Assessment of Gombe Timber Market Fire and Accident Scene

The State Controller of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, DCF Suleiman Mohammed Suleiman, accompanied the Deputy Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency Dr. Manassa Daniel Jatau, alongside Honourable Commissioners and other senior government officials, on an official assessment visit to the site of the recent fire at the Gombe Timber Market. The visit aimed to evaluate emergency response, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and ensure public safety across the state.

The assessment followed a fire outbreak at the timber market, which was promptly contained through the combined efforts of the Federal Fire Service and other emergency responders, resulting in the successful salvage of property valued at billions of naira. During the inspection, the State Controller shared professional insights on the response operations, outlined challenges encountered, and recommended preventive measures, underscoring the Service’s advisory role in fire risk management and disaster mitigation for critical commercial hubs in the state.

The delegation also visited the scene of an accident involving a Gombe State Fire Service appliance that occurred while responding to the timber market fire. The State Controller assessed the situation, commended the affected officers for their commitment, and expressed relief that no casualties occurred. He emphasized the critical importance of responder safety during emergency operations.

The State Controller’s participation underscores the Federal Fire Service’s dedication to accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in emergency response. It also reassures the public of the Service’s proactive collaboration with the state government to safeguard lives and property. The Command reiterated its commitment to enhancing inter-agency synergy and urged the public to always give way to emergency vehicles to ensure timely and safe responses to emergencies.
