The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday called on all Nigerians, particularly Lagos residents, to re-strategize and collaborate in finding lasting solutions to the nation’s security challenges, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property is a shared responsibility between government and citizens.
Governor Sanwo-Olu delivered the remarks at the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), themed “Building Trust, Enhancing Security: A New Era of Security and Partnerships.” The event took place at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
As part of his administration’s commitment to “Security and Governance”, the sixth pillar of the THEMES+ Agenda, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced the donation of 100 operational vehicles to security agencies across the state, aimed at strengthening their operational capacity.
Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, Executive Secretary of LSSTF, credited Lagos’ continued safety to Governor Sanwo-Olu’s significant investments in the state’s security infrastructure. He also highlighted the Trust Fund’s achievements over the past year, including acquisition of security vehicles, development of infrastructure, and human capacity building.
The Town Hall Meeting attracted a wide array of attendees, including the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, serving and former public office holders, captains of industry, traditional, religious, and political leaders, as well as heads of security agencies and personnel.
Representing the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, State Commandant Mr. Adedotun Keshinro attended the event, reaffirming the Corps’ crucial role in protecting the state’s Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).
The NSCDC Lagos State Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives, properties, assets, and infrastructure across Lagos against all forms of vandalism or sabotage.
The event also featured award presentations and fostered camaraderie among all stakeholders, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in enhancing security within the state.
