Federal Fire Service Team Presents Maiden CGF Cup Trophy to Controller General

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) football team today presented the maiden CGF Cup trophy to the Controller General of the Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, during a brief ceremony held at his office in Abuja.

The presentation followed the team’s victory in the inaugural edition of the CGF Cup, a football competition held on 22 November 2025 to commemorate the Controller General’s first 100 days in office. In the opening fixture, FFS had been scheduled to face the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS); however, the NIS team’s absence resulted in an automatic award of three points and three goals to FFS. In the second fixture, the team competed against the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), securing a hard-fought 1–0 win to clinch the championship.

Commending the players, the Controller General praised their commitment and impressive performance throughout the tournament. He stated:
“I congratulate the Federal Fire Service team for winning the maiden CGF Cup. Your dedication, teamwork, and discipline on the field reflect the values we uphold in service to the nation. Keep up the excellent work, and we will ensure your efforts are recognized and supported.”

He added that the tournament was more than just a sporting event, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen interagency camaraderie and promote physical fitness across the nation’s security and emergency response institutions. According to him, such initiatives foster unity and mutual respect among agencies working together to safeguard lives and property.

The team captain, speaking on behalf of the players, expressed appreciation to the Controller General for his ongoing encouragement and support. He noted that the victory has further motivated the team to strive for excellence and to represent the Service honorably in future competitions.
